Knicker Drawer Note Book Workshop 25th July 2026

It's time to share the madness and the passion!

If you'd like to create with me a wonderfully meandering two-hour session of threads, papers, nets and textiles, then send me a message. knickerdrawernotebook@gmail.com

We'll make small personal books with card covers. Expect the chat to include design integrity, philosophy, which colour goes best with pink, note book history, how many scissors are too many scissors, and whether there really is such a thing as feminist bookbinding

 Questions you might ask!

Do I need to bring anything?

Just a sense of fun and a bit of patience with the tutor (who lost her discipline of time a long time ago).

If you have a small item you'd like to see in the book you'll make, then yes, bring it along. Is it a shell, scrap of textile, nut and bolt? If you prefer to be surprised by life, I'll offer a box of bizarre, curious and beautiful.

I usually don't supply tea or coffee because drink-making takes up our interesting time. We do supply water (and maybe a box of fruit juice if I remember to bring it along). Short instruction for drinks etc: Bring your own!

Will I see Knicker Drawer Note Books?

Yes. After my first workshop (when I forgot to bring them along), I'll definitely put some out.

Do I need to have any sewing experience?

No. Some people arrive with vastly more professional experience then me, and some people need helping on the needle threading bit. We'll help each other as necessary, and, if you want to try bookbinding with staples, glue, or sticks, I can have them too.

How do I pay?

I'll send an email a couple of days before with instructions, but you do not need to pay on first booking.

Where are workshops held?

We'll be in The Box, Kiln Farm, Milton Keynes, home of Arts Central / Arts Gateway Studios and hire space.

Can I bring friends / family / my craft buddies and make a party of it?

Yes, if you're all booked in. If you'd like to make a special craft party event, let me know and I'll see if the space is free on your preferred date. If it's a surprise event for your guests, tell me, then I'll not assume they know why they've been locked in a room with me.

I'm coming along! How do I book?

Let's make it official! Send an email to Ms Knickerdrawers : knickerdrawernotebook@gmail.com
Then I'll send you an email confirming date, time, event. Done!

Love, Margaret Knickerdrawers.
